Mexico to tender $7.4 billion in passenger train projects in 2014

Train Tracks by HeraldicosMexico’s government will tender three passenger train projects next year worth 97 billion pesos ($7.4 billion), two of which will service the capital’s sprawling metropolitan area, the country’s transport ministry said on Tuesday. Project details will be published ahead of the contract tender in early 2014, the ministry said in a statement. The new trains will connect the country’s capital with the cities of Toluca and Queretaro, in addition to a train traversing tourist destinations along Mexico’s southern Yucatan peninsula.

11 Bodies Found Near Mexico City

Mexico BricksProsecutors say 11 bodies have been found dumped at two different sites near the outskirts of Mexico City. Prosecutors in Mexico State say six bodies were found stuffed in plastic bags inside a car and the car’s trunk. The car was abandoned in the town of Zinacantepec, east of Mexico City. Prosecutors said Tuesday that five other bodies were found Monday dumped on a street in Toluca, the capital of Mexico State.

Toluca takes lead in Mexico

Toluca defeated reigning champions Santos Laguna 4-1 on Sunday to take the Mexican league lead with just three rounds remaining. Tijuana is in second place, level on points with Toluca but behind on goal difference, after drawing 2-2 against Cruz Azul on Friday. Leon remains third despite losing 2-1 to America on Saturday.

Mexico ‘Zetas leader’ Rejon Aguilar extradited to US

Mexico has extradited an alleged founder member of the powerful Zetas drug cartel to the United States…

Mr Rejon Aguilar, also known as El Mamito, is alleged to be the third in command of the Zetas, a drug gang formed by former Mexican special forces soldiers.

He was handed to DEA officers at Toluca airport on Tuesday.
