Homicides in Mexico Rose in 2015 for First Time in Four Years

MEXICO CITY—The number of homicides in Mexico increased slightly in 2015, rising for the first time in four years, according to preliminary data released Monday by the National Statistics Institute.

The institute, known as Inegi, said there were 20,525 homicides in 2015, up from 20,010 in 2014. The national murder rate was unchanged from the previous year at 17 for every 100,000 inhabitants.
