Jorge Fernández Menéndez, “PRD: ¿es curable la esquizofrenia?:” Although AMLO said he was going to retire to his ranch if he lost this election, nor did he respect the electoral results as he promised immediately before the election, instead he is going to turn Morena into his own political party, so says Fernández Menéndez in his editorial today. Fernández Menéndez says he thinks that AMLO is now preparing to run in 2018, on the same topics that he’s been running on for years. Without López Obrador both the PD and Movimiento Ciudadano will become solely local parties, and with the PRD they say that with the creation of Morena the schizophrenia within the party will end, Fernández Menéndez doesn’t buy this theory, and says that the PRD needs to decide what it stands for and stand up for these precepts. He thinks that they are capable of doing this because they have good politicians like Ebrard and Mancera.
Bajo Reserva, “Acceleran compra de avion presidencial”: The group of federal agencies charged with purchasing a new presidential airplane received a direct order from Los Pinos to proceed with the purchase, this was apparently part of the deal made between Calderon and Pena Nieto. The plane will be ready in 2015, and though the initial price is less than $200 million it will probably end up being more.
Clase Política, Miguel Ángel Rivera, “Maíz, reto para Peña Nieto:” One of the first goals for the new Peña Nieto government will be raising agricultural production, for example Mexico now imports most of its national corn consumption, and this could rise in the coming years. This serious situation has already been made present to the president-elect, particularly by the main farmers organizations and through a study by the National Agricultural Council (CNA) and the CNC…AMLO told an assembly that violence is not an alternative but that he was definitely going to create his own party
Trascendió: Yesterday in the Zócalo the mayor of the DF, Miguel Angel Mancera, did not attend, apparently it will be very difficult from now on to get him to attend a meeting with AMLO…Without actually naming her, López Obrador made sure to comment on Rosario Robles joining Peña Nieto’s transition team saying that she is working with people of the “most low moral category.”
Templo Mayor: Peña has surprised many with the speed with which he started pushing his transparency and anti-corruption reforms, and they do sound good, although details are as of yet unknown, and a good way to keep an eye on whether or not he is serious is to “follow the money…” The statistical annex from Calderón’s government’s final copy has almost all the information in great detail, except for the information on the “State of the Rule of Law and Security,” because when you arrive at the international comparisons it forgets to compare them online.
