Judging by the results of the survey released yesterday by the Gabinete de Comunicación Estratégica, the answer is yes: the war has been lost.
The statistics are devastating:
Who is winning the war? Organized crime, 59%; the government, 21%; last July the proportion was: organized crime, 51%; government, 28%.
Has the war against organized crime raised the level of violence? Yes, 89%.
What has caused the rise in violence? 50%, that organized crime has taken control of the situation; 34%, that the government is combating criminals with greater force.
