The immortal lyrics — Beloved Mexico, if I die far from you, say I’m asleep and bring me back— are the closest thing to a national anthem for immigrants heading north. They say much about the romantic aspiration of migrants to be buried in their homeland.
But the appearance of a shocking video, showing long-entombed remains being crudely discarded at a local cemetery here, has some in this central Mexico town cringing at the sentiment expressed in the lyrics.
