The Mexican Government announced that it will be paying close attention to the U.S.’s decision regarding the fixed favorable rates currently provided to Mexican tomato exporters. This is regarding the petition Florida tomato growers sent to Congress; the petition said that due to the favorable rates they had lost a lot of business since the rates were established 16 years ago and they requested that it was removed. The Mexican Government has threatened trade retaliations should they lose the favorable rates, and asks that the U.S. government keeps this decision removed from political considerations.
