Chile and Colombia spend more than 2% of their budgets on their militaries, whereas Mexico only spends .49%; the only nation which spends less is Guatemala with .40%. In addition, the Mexican military does not only concern itself with exterior threats, but is also extremely involved in the domestic fight against organized crime.
