The political party PRI filed a complaint before the Federal Electoral Institute (IFE) denouncing President Calderón for a television ad released by the Federal Electricity Commission in which he is shown supervising the dam La Yesca. The PRI accuses Calderón of having violated electoral law as well as Article 134 of the Constitution, arguing that the head of state used the ad to promote his image and used public resources for a political end. In addition, the representative of PRI before the IFE, Sebastián Lerdo de Tejada, pointed out that there has been “reiterated conduct” from the federal government to intervene in the electoral process. In light of that, he requested there be a special sanctioning procedure.
