At the beginning of the presidential candidacy of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the national leader of the Labor Party (Partido del Trabajo, PT), Alberto Anaya Gutiérrez, named him as his favorite to lead the left and maintained that the polls will show it, as they determine with whom he will compete in 2012.
After López Obrador decided that his movement would participate in the 2012 elections, Anaya Gutiérrez made it clear that “the PT has already decided; nonetheless, we await the polls and hope that next July will confirm the candidacy of Andrés Manuel,” he said in an interview.
