Ex president Luis Echeverría Álvarez was cleared of all wrong-doing for the massacre of students on October 2, 1968.
A federal tribunal ruled yesterday in favor of granting full liberty to the former leader, who had been confined to house arrest since November 2006, after it was determined that there was insufficient evidence to convict him for the crime of genocide.
